State of the Church

In 2nd Timothy chapter 4 verse 3, Paul is warning his young disciple Timothy about the future state of the Church.

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”

Paul is telling Timothy that there will come a time when people will not be interested in hearing the truth anymore. They will prefer teachings that align with their own desires rather than sound doctrine.

Folks, it is easy to see this prophecy unfolding. We live in an age where people seek out teachers who simply tell them what they want to hear. They cherry-pick teachings that fit their own preferences and ignore those that challenge them.

As followers of Jesus, it is crucial for us to stay grounded in the truth. We must be discerning in our search for spiritual guidance. It is important to seek out teachers who teach the whole counsel of God, even if it challenges us or goes against popular opinion.

Remember, the truth is not always comfortable, but it is what sets us free. Do not fall into the trap of seeking out teachings that merely tickle your ears. Instead, be hungry for the truth, even if it is hard to hear at times.

You all have a blessed day, and I’ll talk with you later!
