As I was reading this week, 2nd Corinthians verse 5 of chapter 13 jumped out me, which usually means, “Hey Bobby, there is your verse to talk about on Saturday.”
Paul is writing to the Corinthian church, and we all know that they faced challenges that many of us can relate to today. They struggled with divisions and conflicts among its members, and they were also influenced by the immoral practices prevalent in the city.
Paul writes, “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?, unless indeed you fail to meet the test!”
What does this mean for us? Well, Paul is urging us to take a moment of self-reflection and evaluate our faith. He is encouraging us to examine ourselves and ask important questions.
Are we truly walking in faith?
Do we truly believe in Christ Jesus?
The phrase “test yourselves” is like a spiritual check-up. It is an opportunity for us to assess our relationship with God.
Are we living according to His teachings?
Are we surrendering our lives to Him?
Paul is challenging us to evaluate our faith honestly and make any necessary adjustments.
Paul also reminds us that Christ Jesus is in us. Folks, when we have accepted Jesus into our lives and have a personal relationship with Him, His spirit dwells within us. This is a beautiful reminder that we are never alone in our journey of faith.
Paul does add a cautionary note: “Unless, of course, you fail the test.” This is a warning that if we fail to pass the test of true faith, if we are not genuinely living out our beliefs, then we need to re-evaluate our commitment to Christ.
Folks, examine yourselves and test your faith. Remember that Jesus lives within us, and we are to live in accordance with His teachings. So, take this opportunity for self-reflection and ensure that your faith is genuine and growing.
You all have a blessed week, and I’ll talk with you later!
