As I was reading Proverbs this morning, chapter 24 verse 12 got me thinking about how many times I’ve heard people say “I didn’t know” or “I didn’t do it.” I guess my point here is that there seems not to be much accountability anymore. Verse 12 says…
“Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people as their actions deserve.”
This should remind us that God sees beyond our excuses and justifications. When we claim ignorance about something, we forget that God weighs our hearts and knows our intentions. Yes, we live in a world where it’s easy to deflect responsibility. But as Believers, God calls us to a higher standard. He knows our motives and our actions, and both have consequences, good or bad. Folks, we must be aware of our choices and their impact on others and that God’s justice ensures that we will reap what we sow.
Have a blessed day, and keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
