Today is day 9 of our Global Bible Month Challenge and we’re in 1st Peter chapter 4, where Peter emphasizes the importance of living a life that reflects Jesus, especially in the face of suffering and persecution.
In verses 1 through 6, Peter starts by reminding us that Jesus suffered for our sins, and as followers we should arm ourselves with the same mindset. Folks, we must be prepared to endure hardships and understand that suffering leads to spiritual growth and a deeper relationship with God.
Peter encourages us to leave behind our past sinful ways and that our former lives were marked by actions that do not honor God, things like debauchery, lust, and idolatry. Folks, we are called to live according to God’s will, even if it means facing criticism or alienation from those who don’t understand our faith.
In verses 7 through 11, Peter encourages us to support one another through love and service. He reminds us that each of us has unique gifts and talents to contribute. Folks, when we use these gifts to serve others, we reflect God’s grace in action.
In verses 12 through 19, Peter encourages us with a call to trust God in all circumstances. Whether we are facing trials or triumphs, we must commit ourselves to God, knowing He is faithful and will sustain us. Folks, we need to remember that suffering is part of our journey, and to always rely on God’s strength. That’s how we live out our faith!
That’s it for chapter 4. Tomorrow, Monday, we’ll be in chapter 5 and finish 1st Peter. Until then, have a blessed evening!
