Thoughts from Ecclesiastes chapter 4

With the beautiful weather we have today I decided to stay home, probably one of the wisest decisions I’ve made lately. Ok, Kimmie made the decision and we all know what Kimmie says goes. I did make a special cross necklace for my oldest grandson Damien and daughter Megan, and 5 baseball bat necklaces with the school colors for my other grandson Nik and a couple of his team mates that he wants to give them to. Anyway, it gave me some quiet type to reflect on Ecclesiastes chapter 4 that I read this morning, where Solomon reflects on the injustices and absurdities of life…. oppression, envy, the futility of isolating oneself in endless work, and that the pursuit of power and popularity is fleeting and ultimately meaningless. But, in verses 9 through 12, Solomon reminds us of the power of companionship.

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

You know, life wasn’t meant to be lived alone,  we all need someone, whether it’s a friend or a spouse, we will accomplish more and endure better when we walk alongside others. Folks, don’t go it alone. Lean on your brothers and sisters in Christ. Remember, our hope isn’t in earthly success, but in God’s eternal promises.

Y’all have a blessed evening!
