Thoughts from Psalm 119:4

It’s been a rough day, in my journey through Psalm 119 I’m at verse 4. As I was reflecting on the questions that I ask myself, I decided since I was sitting out in the parking lot waiting that I would read my daily chapter of Proverbs, which I quit doing since I’m focusing on what I can learn from Psalm 119. Guess what! A verse from Proverbs 19 caught my eye. Now I have 2 verses going through my mind and I’m thinking…. great, which one do I write about. I closed my Bible and explained my dilemma to Kimmie, she looked at me with a smile and said “What verse caught your eye in Proverbs?” I gave her funny look and replied… I can’t remember. She said, “well, there’s your answer!” So, here are my thoughts on the three questions I ask myself.

“You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed.”
Psalm 119:4

What lesson am I supposed to learn from this? That God’s commandments and instructions are meant to be followed completely and with sincere obedience, and the importance of not just knowing God’s laws but living by them fully and faithfully.

How can I apply that lesson to my life? By committing to obey God’s word in every area of my life, not selectively or partially but fully, studying Scripture regularly, understanding God’s will, and aligning my actions, my decisions, and my attitudes with His instructions.

How does this help me to draw closer to God? My obedience to God’s precepts fosters a deeper relationship with Him because it reflects trust, love, and reverence. When I live according to His guidance, I experience His presence, His blessings, and His guidance more tangibly. My obedience transforms my heart and my character, drawing me nearer to God and making my faith more authentic and my life more meaningful.

Y’all have a blessed evening and I’ll talk with ya tomorrow!
