Today’s Journey – 20 May 2026

It’s been a profitable day, I woke up, did my Bible study, took my grandson Nik to the high school to turn in his baseball uniforms, the season is over for them, took Kimmie to get her daily fountain soda, wrote a couple more Sunday school lessons for the kids on the Life and Times of Jesus, wrote a lesson from Matthew 24 for Thursday night Bible study, I thought that I might have to drive my grandson to the youth rally, but his dad is taking him. So, now I get to spend more time tonight writing… that is if you call it writing. Since my hand surgery it’s been hard to hold things in my hand, like a pen, so I actually use my tablet and a special stylus to type. I guess it’s still writing in a sense, but there is something about writing with pen and paper. Anyways, today’s journey through Psalm 119 I’m at verses 5 and 6…
“Oh, that my ways were steadfast
in obeying your decrees!
Then I would not be put to shame
when I consider all your commands.”

So, what am I supposed to learn from this? The importance of steadfastness and wholehearted obedience to God’s commands. To have a desire for consistency in living according to God’s laws, recognizing that this obedience leads to honor rather than shame. That a life devoted to following God’s guidance fosters integrity and confidence.

How can I apply that lesson to my life? By committing myself to live according to God’s teachings, even when it is challenging. Making choices that align with biblical principles, studying Scripture, and seeking God’s help to stay obedient. Setting spiritual goals, praying for strength and guidance, and reflecting on God’s commands will help develop perseverance.

So, how does this help me to draw closer to God? By desiring and practicing obedience, I develop a deeper relationship with God. Obedience reflects trust and reverence, which draw me nearer to Him. As I align my life to His will, I become more aware of His presence and experience His blessings, encouragement, and guidance. This closer connection strengthens my faith and reliance on God in all aspects of my life.

Well folks, that’s it for today! Y’all have a blessed evening and I’ll talk with ya tomorrow!
