It’s Wednesday and our journey through Psalm 119 began in verse 41 and I stopped at verse 48. I didn’t really know why I stopped and couldn’t go on till later tonight. Here are the verses…
“Let Your mercies come also to me, O LORD- Your salvation according to Your word. [42] So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me, For I trust in Your word. [43] And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, For I have hoped in Your ordinances. [44] So shall I keep Your law continually, Forever and ever. [45] And I will walk at liberty, For I seek Your precepts. [46] I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, And will not be ashamed. [47] And I will delight myself in Your commandments, Which I love. [48] My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments, Which I love, And I will meditate on Your statutes.”
Psalm 119:41-48
As I was reading these verses this morning, at first nothing really stood out, I kept thinking about it all day and the only thing that kept coming to my mind was that Psalm 119, all 176 verses, is about the importance of trusting in God’s promises and loving His Word. That David, a man after God’s own heart, was emphasizing relying on God’s unfailing love and salvation, which empowered him to confidently face challenges and opposition. That obedience to God’s laws is portrayed as a source of freedom, joy, and boldness. That loving and meditating on God’s commands leads to a deeper, lasting relationship with God, enabling the believer to live confidently without shame.
So folks, by trusting in His unfailing love and committing to obey His Word, you build intimacy with God. Loving and meditating on His commands helps you understand His character and desires, aligning your heart with His will. This fosters dependence on Him, cultivates spiritual freedom, and nurtures a confident and open relationship with God where you can draw strength, wisdom, and peace.
I feel this brings our Journey Through Psalm 119 to an end and always remember the importance of trusting in God’s promises and loving His Word.
Grace and Peace,
Bobby
