Thoughts from Proverbs 20:24

Proverbs 20:24 says,
“The LORD directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?”

I’ve walked with the Lord a long time, and I’ve learned the hard way not every road I’ve walked was one I chose, but every road was one God allowed. I’ve looked back on certain turns in my life and thought, “Well, that certainly wasn’t the road I would have chosen.” Yet, in time, I often saw God’s hand guiding me in ways I couldn’t see at the moment.

In this verse Solomon is reminding me to hold my life with an open hand… that I’m responsible to make wise choices, to pray, and to take the next faithful step even when I can’t see the whole road. But God can! He knows the bends, the hills, and even the places where I’ll need to stop and catch our breath. And that’s a great comfort to me… when I don’t understand what God is doing, I can still trust who He is.

Folks, remember that faith isn’t having every answer, it’s walking with the One who does. So if your path feels confusing today, don’t be discouraged. Take the next step you know to take, and leave the rest in the Lord’s hands. He is not lost, and neither are you. May He give you peace for today and quiet confidence for tomorrow.
