Morning Thought – 18 Apr 2026

As I was reading this morning this verse was laid on my heart.

“Preserve my life, for I am holy; You are my God; Save Your servant who trusts in You!”
Psalm 86:2

Imagine yourself standing on the edge if a cliff, the wind whipping around you, threatening to push you into the abyss below. This abyss represents the dangers of life: temptation, hardship, doubt, fear. In this moment of vulnerability, your only hope is to cling to something solid, something that can hold you fast.

David, in Psalm 86, understands this feeling intimately. He cries out to God, not just for help, but for protection. He begs, “Preserve my life!” He’s not simply asking for physical safety, but for the preservation of his very soul. He knows that life’s trials can erode faith, can lead us astray, and can ultimately damage our relationship with God.

Notice the foundation upon which David’s plea rests. He doesn’t ask God to guard his life without reason. He declares, “I am Holy!” His devotion, his unwavering loyalty, is the bedrock of his request. It’s a commitment that has already been made, a bond that has already been forged. He’s not offering a bribe, he’s reminding God of the relationship they share.

He further reinforces this foundation by stating, “You are my God, save your servant who trusts in You.” He acknowledges God’s sovereignty and His power to save. He identifies himself as a servant, willingly submitting to God’s will and relying entirely on His grace. This trust is not blind faith, but a confident reliance built on past experiences of God’s faithfulness.

This is a powerful lesson for us today, where temptations abound and anxieties threaten to overwhelm, we too must cry out to God for protection. We must actively choose to devote ourselves to Him, to prioritize our relationship with Him above all else.

Folks, What are the specific areas of your life where you feel most vulnerable and in need of God’s protection? How can you cultivate a deeper devotion to God in your daily life? What does it mean to truly trust in God, even when circumstances are difficult?

Remember, a heart devoted to God is a heart protected by God.

Have a blessed day!

  1. There is absolutely nothing better than to have complete faith and obedience with God. Therefore are times when our faith and obedience are weak.
Philippians 4:13 tells us “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” So when we fill weak if we open our heart, mind, soul to the complete purpose God has for us we will grow in our faith. Sanctification last a life time. Therefore we lean into God and grow closer and closer to Him. Ephesians 4: 15-16 also tells us “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
