Today’s Thoughts – 25 Aug 2026

Today has been a great day! Woke up at 8 this morning. Ok, it wasn’t all on my own, my doctor called me to explain my medication changes. I went through the with no dizziness, blurry vision, or feeling tired all day. Worked on some cross necklaces and did some writing, which I haven’t been able to do in a while. As I was re-reading and reflecting on chapter 1 of Zephaniah verses 14-15 caught my eye,….

“The great day of the LORD is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the LORD is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness,”

Zephaniah begins with a stark warning… God will not ignore unfaithfulness forever. The prophet describes the Day of the Lord as near and impossible to ignore. For Judah, this meant coming judgment through Babylon. For us, it points to the reality that God takes sin seriously and that His justice is certain. Now, this is not meant to paralyze us with fear, but to wake us up. A God who doesn’t confront evil is not a loving God. Because He loves what is good, He must deal with what destroys it.

Folks, don’t live as if God doesn’t care about your choices. Examine your heart honestly. Is there compromise, idolatry, or complacency you have been tolerating? Today is the day of mercy and an opportunity to return.

Have a blessed evening and may God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
