Thoughts from Matthew 5:11-12

As I was reading this morning Matthew chapter 5 verses 11 and 12 reminded that the insults we face are actually a sign we’re on the right path.

Matthew 5:11–12 (NKJV) says, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Jesus flips our thinking. Persecution for His name isn’t proof of failure… it’s proof of alignment with Him. “Revile” and “say all kinds of evil” describe slander and false accusations. His command? Rejoice. Not happy denial, but rejoicing rooted in an eternal perspective.

Folks, that means three things. One…hold your identity in Christ, not in public approval. Two… refuse to retaliate, respond with truth, steady love, and prayer. Three… remember the reward. Heaven values faithfulness over reputation.

Think about this… Jesus is connecting you to a legacy.. the prophets were persecuted too. Your trials join a long story of witness and that changes how you endure them. It changes shame into testimony and discouragement into perseverance.

So, the next time you’re criticized for standing for Christ, don’t shrink, stand firm, show love, pray harder, and keep your eyes on the promise. Remember, the blessing isn’t for comfort now… it’s a confirmed place in God’s eternal kingdom. Folks, now that’s worth rejoicing over!

Have a blessed day!
